is there a little nifty thing like an outlet that is battery charged? like, you can plug stuff into it but it runs on batteries? if so, where can u find it? how much is it?

Go to Wal-Mart in the Automotive section and you can buy a "jump-start" battery pack with an inverter. They have all sizes. I purchased the largest one about two years ago for $99.99. It will run a DVD player for at least two movies with no problems. Good Luck.
They do sell portable electric generators. Honda makes GREAT motors! All of their equipment is amazing. Here is a link to honda generators. You probably can buy them at Sears too. I hope this helps.

There are power inverters that can run off the car battery, I would recomend an inverter that automatcly detects when the car battery has recahed it’s limit, so you don’t drain the cars battery. Or you can chose a portable generator.
